There are many reasons why puppies may cry at night. Some common causes can include separation anxiety, fear, and noise phobia. It is important to remember that all puppies experience some degree of crying at night, and that there is no one-size-fits-all solution to solving the problem.

How Can You Help Relieve The Puppy Pain?

There are a few things that you can do to help comfort your puppy and make his crying at night easier to tolerate.

One thing that you can do is to secure an environment that is calming for the puppy. This could involve providing a secure place to sleep, providing toys and games that are calming, or engaging in playtime during the evening hours.

Another thing that you can do is to provide positive reinforcement for good behavior. This could involve praising the puppy when it cries and making sure that it knows that its crying is not going to get it punished.

If your puppy is crying out of separation anxiety, you can try crate-training him or providing him with a designated bed in which to sleep. If he is afraid of noises, you can try playing soothing sounds or using a noise machine to make him feel more comfortable.

One of the ways taught by some experts to stop your puppy from crying at night is to crate train them.

One of the ways we have found that works for us is to provide an extremely plush type bed that has a lot of padding for him. This allows him to snuggle into the bed. You will know for sure that he likes it if he does the old circle several times before settling in.

We not only show him his new bed we encourage him to get in by using some small training treats. By being generious with the treats at the start, you are helping him to feel that positive reinforcement that will be extremely important as he grows.

And finally, while it is a pain for us for the first night or two, we put him in the bed in our room so he knows where we are. Darken the room and go to be ourselves. We don’t get up to console him at the first cry, he needs some alone time. But we might if it continues for around an hour straight.

And Some Final Thoughts

Your puppy crying at night can be a difficult situation to be in. It’s just like having your baby home for the first few nights. They will get used to your home over time. From their point of view, your puppy has been ripped from that cozy environment they have known all their lives to this new one.

This is why helping your puppy by providing a safe, secure environment at the beginning is crutial. It’s not their fault and they are not doing it to annoy you. They just need some comforting and love.
